In Northern Nevada, barely a day passes without news of an exciting new restaurant, a sensational up-and-coming chef, a must-try dish, and an event that celebrates all of this. The Nevada Restaurant Association has created an edible experience that makes it easy for the community to dine out for a cause this upcoming July 24 – 30. During its inaugural Nevada Breakfast Week, many participating restaurants will turn your dining experiences into philanthropic ones as we celebrate this year’s National Culinary Arts Month.

Culinary Arts Month takes place yearly in July to honor industry professionals for their contributions to the world of fine dining. Summer is the perfect time to celebrate local culinary favorites in Northern Nevada!

For the seven days of NVBW, diners get the chance to take their taste buds on an adventure and try some of this state’s finest local restaurants while supporting future chefs. Plus, a portion of the event’s proceeds support the Nevada Restaurant Association’s ProStart Program, a culinary technical education program uniting industry professionals and aspiring chefs while providing skills needed to become successful in the restaurant industry.

The exciting list of 2017 participants for NVBW include community leaders such as Chef Mark Estee and the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, both of whom involved several of their restaurants to help support the ProStart Program and future culinary workers.

  • Squeeze In: This local favorite will feature a special menu for Breakfast Week, including a house mimosa, an entrée (The Racy Tracy or The Spanish Flay), and a piece of chocolate-covered bacon for $19.99.
  • BJ’s Nevada Barbecue Company: This family-owned favorite in Sparks serves up Southern classics such as Corned Beef Hash Stacker.

  • Hash House A Go Go: This delicious chain serves locally grown, “twisted farm food” in colossal portions. For the weeklong event, Hash House will offer Brown Sugar Banana Pancakes.

  • Two Chicks: This café in Midtown Reno offers eggceptional breakfast items incorporating fresh and locally grown ingredients.
  • Crème Café: Known for its crêpes, both sweet and savory, as well as made-to-order beignets, this café serves many delicious breakfast and lunch options at its Midtown Reno location.

  • LA Bakery: A locally owned bakery and café features fresh treats daily.

  • PJ and Co.: A local favorite for more than 20 years, PJ’s prides itself on high quality and handmade menu items.

  • High Point Café: A family-owned café serving simple and fantastic favorites.
  • chez louie: The only restaurant located in the Nevada Museum of Art and owned by nationally celebrated chef Mark Estee, this French-American restaurant combines a fun intimate atmosphere with superior-quality food.
  • Liberty Food and Wine Exchange: Another Estee restaurant, Liberty puts classic twists on traditional favorites utilizing ingredients from local farmers and ranchers.
  • The Union: Chef Mark Estée’s newest venture located in downtown Carson City, featuring full-service restaurant, coffee bar, and brewery all in one.
  • Great Full Gardens: A wholesome, casual, full-service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with full barista service, beer, and wine. There is something for everyone at Great Full Gardens, with a menu that incorporates vegan, paleo, gluten-free, and non-restricted favorites.
  • Atlantis Casino Resort Spa: Many of this casino property’s restaurants will participate in NVBW, including Purple Parrot, Toucan Charlie’s Buffet, Café Alfresco, Manhattan Deli, and Oyster Bar.

The ProStart Program, at the heart of NVBW, is funded by the Nevada Restaurant Association’s Educational Foundation, which has been providing scholarships for more than 20 years. ProStart is a two-year program that develops high school students’ restaurant management and culinary skills to give them a head start in the industry. This program reaches thousands of students in more than 40 schools across Nevada.
